The past few days I can’t help but take the time to notice just how unbelievable the weather has been. One of the things that I guess I’ve picked up in Minnesota is talking about the weather with anyone who will listen. It’s such a topic of conversation out there that I’m not kidding when I say that people have actually stopped me on the street to discuss it. The weather here has been downright incredible the past few days. As I was walking in New York with a friend on Friday, that just kept popping up in our conversation every few hours. Neither of us could believe how nice it was, how warm and sunny and perfect. It’s funny, this weather happens every single year, and every year it is still astonishing to everyone who can distinctly remember the cold, bitter winter that has just ended.
I have been inspired recently by the weather to take a little more time to live in the present. It’s easy for me to get caught up in the future – what classes I will be taking next semester, preparing for graduate school, figuring out what I want to do with my life – that I rarely take the time to appreciate where I am right now. That’s what I’m making my goal for the next few weeks, to truly appreciate where I am, where I’ve been, and the incredible weather that seems to keep surprising me.
