This evening as I sat down to dinner, I looked to compare what my roommate and I were eating. On one plate sat a beautiful traditional fajita, and on the other, a makeshift burrito made of butternut squash, black beans, spinach, and avocado on a whole wheat wrap with pickled beets on the side.
I’ve recently come to take ownership of my hippie granola food habits. It’s strange to see how foods habits change once you move to college and what happens as a result. There are many things that I never ate before college that I absolutely adore now: avocado, kale, and spinach, to name a few. (Perhaps because I had an aversion to all things green?)
Tonight I spoke to a senior in high school on the phone about his interest in my college. It was a strange conversation, partially because I don’t know this person at all and am never quite sure how that comes across on the phone. But it was a good conversation. Like my food choices, I’ve realized just how much my perspective has changed in the past 3+ years here. What comes after hippie granola food? Still unclear.
