February has been a bit of a stain on 2014. The clouds in DC are dark, there have been a few instances of polar vortex, and no amount of hot chocolate could have made the stress of Thursday’s snow more bearable. The past few weeks have been tense and full of apprehension of future unknowns. After making a last-hope trip to the Baltimore airport on Thursday night armed with an incredible friend and a loaf of banana bread, the world looked a little brighter.
This weekend was a rare glimpse into the future in a way I hadn’t been expecting. It was so very ordinarily spectacular. Full of good friends and good food, errands and small, quiet moments of togetherness. It was a reminder that even when the universe seems to be brooding, good things can happen. I needed that reminder.
